PRO-TECT ARMGUARD
The Pro-Tect is a forearm guard designed to improve child bicycle safety. The target market is for children aged between 7-12 years, who are more prone to fracturing or breaking their arms (forearms in particular) from bicycle accidents.
The Pro-Tect works by attaching to the child bicycle handlebars when the bike is not in use, becoming a cool feature aside from its safety purpose. When the child decided to ride the bike the Pro-Tect simply removes from the handlebars and can be worn as protective armguards.
The Pro-Tect is unique in that it is customizable to the individual. A feature of the Pro-Tect is that the design is actually created by the child, giving them a creative outlet and choice in how they want their particular Pro-Tect to look. By logging on to the Pro-Tect design website kids are able to swap base models and add parts to get a particular look and style they may be after. This process helps the children create a bond and a sense of design ownership over their Pro-Tect encouraging the use of the safety feature and looking cool rather than dorky.
Another added safety feature is GPS tracking. Parents can download the app available on mobile, tablet, or computer and keep track on their child and their whereabouts. This app will also allow parents to see if their child is wearing their Pro-Tect gear by sending an alert to their chosen device, notifying them if the gear has not been disengaged from the handlebars before use.
The Pro-Tect will also include other safety elements such as LED lights found in selected parts of the Pro-Tect making children more visible at dusk and night, adding to their safety and also making the design look different and cool. The Pro-Tect will also have an expanding foam interior with Abs plastic used on the exterior keeping it light, strong yet cost effective.
